…As Bille, Krakrama Communities Clash Over Oil Well, One Feared Dead
One person is reportedly stabbed to death and many others injured when the Bille Community in Degema LGA and their Krakrama neighbours in Asari-Torn LGA, all in Rivers State clashed over the disagreement on how to share oil wells found in their common area.
According to the report, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo had waded into the matter inviting the warring factions to his office over the weekend in Port Harcourt for settlement.
Mid-way into the meeting, tempers we learnt rose and dangerous weapons were freely used on each other.
One person was eventually stabbed to death by the Bille Youths, while the two sides sustained various degrees of injury. The policemen stationed at the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt were eventually called in to disperse the angry mob and some arrests were made.
As at press time, no stakeholder of the two parties was willing to comment on the issue but were running around to bail out their arrested ones.
