Economic activities were grounded on Tuesday following a blockade mounted by youths of Rumuolumeni in Obio/Akpor local Government area of Rivers State at the entry and exit points of the road.
Commuters, passers-by including students among others were stranded. People trekked for a long distance to board vehicles that will convey them to their destinations.
The people of Rumuolumeni were protesting for the release of the CDC Chairman and employment committee chairman of the community who were allegedly arrested by the Nigerian Navy at Iwofe over demand for review of existing Memorandum of Understanding with a certain company located inside the navy yard.
When contacted by Journalists, the spokesperson of NNS pathfinder, Lt. Ernest Jim said he was not at the base at the moment.
