Police Arraign Murder Suspect At Magistrate Court

The Rivers State Police Command on Monday arraigned before a magistrate court in Port- Harcourt one Titus Okwudiri Nwankwo, for the murder of one Ejinihi Agbam at Umueyim Village, Odogwu Etche in Etche Local Government Area of the State.

The Rivers State Police Command on Monday arraigned before a magistrate court in Port- Harcourt one Titus Okwudiri Nwankwo, for the murder of one Ejinihi Agbam at Umueyim Village, Odogwu Etche in Etche Local Government Area of the State.

In the eight-count charge against Nwankwo and other suspects at large, the police said that the suspects shot dead their victim with a gun on February 23, 2018, at Umueyim Village in Odogwu Etche in Etche local government area.

The suspects also face charges of attempted murder and arson which involved the deliberate setting on fire of houses in Umuoyim Village with the intent of burning them down and the unlawful possession of firearms.

In the charge sheet obtained from court signed by the police officer in charge of the case, Inspector Romeo Queensoap, with charge Number PMC/22C/2019, between Commissioner of Police versus Titus Okwudiri Nwankwo 'M,’ aged 24 years, the charges among others read: “That you Titus Okwudiri Nwankwo 'M' and others at large on 23rd February, 2018 at Umueyim Village, Odogwu Etche in the Etche Magisterial District but triable in the Port-Harcourt Magisterial District did murder one Ejinihi Agbam by shooting him with a gun and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 11, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.

“That you Titus Okwudiri Nwankwo 'M' and others at large on the 22nd and 23rd February, 2018 at Umuonyim Village, Odogwu Etche in the Etche Magisterial District but triable in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: Arson and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 516A (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. 11, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.

“That you Titus Okwudiri Nwankwo 'M' and others at large on same date and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District did attempt to murder one Eze Godwill Orlando Nwankwo by shooting him with a gun on his body and cause him harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under Ssection 320 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 11, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999”.

Nwankwo was brought to court on Tuesday but he did not take any plea.

The presiding chief magistrate, A. O. Amadi-Nna, Esq. adjourned the case to February 7, for mention.
