Amaechi Has Not Brought Dev To Rivers State – Nwiyor

The Director-General of Wike Solidarity Movement (WSM), Prince Sudor Nwiyor, has faulted the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, for failing to bring development to Rivers State in spite of his recent claim that he is closest to Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari.

Nwiyor, who faulted the Minister when he addressed members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Degema, shortly before inaugurating the Degema Local Government Area chapter of WSM recently, said that Chibuike Amaechi despite his recent claim, has not brought any development to his home State (Rivers) and wondered why he failed to use his closeness to the President to attract federal presence to the area.

He said that although Amaechi is from Rivers State and is the Minister of Transportation, he has not used his position to open up the port in Rivers State and wondered why the Port-Harcourt Port should operate below capacity when he (Amaechi) is the Minister of Transportation.

Nwiyor had appealed to the newly inaugurated members of the Wike Solidarity Movement in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, to work hard for the re-election of Governor Nyesom Wike in 2019.

In another development, the Director-General of the Wike Solidarity Movement, Prince Sudor Nwiyor, has said that the people of Rivers State, who are members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) showed their “love” and “support” for Governor Nyesom Wike when delegates at the Special State Congress of the party voted massively on Sunday for him to become the governorship candidate of the party for next year's general elections.

He predicted that Governor Wike will have an easy re-election victory in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections.

Lending support to Governor Wike, who sent out a strong warning in his acceptance speech after the governorship primary on Sunday, that the APC-led federal government should not dream of stealing the mandate of the people of Rivers State in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections, Prince Nwiyor said that it will be impossible for the APC-led federal government to manipulate and steal the mandate of the people of Rivers State for Governor Nyesom Wike in the 2019 General Elections since the State is a core PDP State.

Nwiyor said: “Rivers State is a core PDP State in Nigeria and you cannot liken Osun and Ekiti States to Rivers State. Osun State is an APC State where the governor is APC but PDP still won in Osun State if not that they (APC) did their manipulation at the end of the elections. Then imagine in a State like Rivers State where it is a total PDP State, I don't see any possibility of the APC coming to manipulate (in) Rivers State because Rivers people have made up their mind and they have decided that they will resist any attempt by the federal government to come and threaten or intimidate our people with their federal might. Rivers people will choose their governor and we are very sure that Wike is the person that we are going to choose”.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the pro-Wike group said that the APC-led federal government has “taken” Nigeria backward instead of “forward” since the APC came to power over three years ago.

He was reacting to the country's 58th Independence anniversary celebrations and noted that there is insecurity in the country and that the Buhari administration has failed to handle the issue of Fulani herdsmen's killings in different parts of the country.

He expressed disappointment that the Buhari administration has not turned around the country's economy and also faulted the  administration for its one-sided fight against corruption, noting that the APC-led federal government does not prosecute those who are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Nwiyor further said that the APC-led government is noted for impunity and expressed the hope that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will take over the reign of power from the APC in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections and will make quick progress in the country in all sectors of the economy.###
