One of the top contenders for the Akuku-Toru Constituency II seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. ThankGod Festus Lilly-Inia has promised to provide very effective and vibrant representation for his people if given the chance in the forthcoming election.
Hon. Lilly-Inia (JP) made this known to our reporter at the Rivers State PDP Secretariat, as he submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, saying the people of AKULGA constituency II, had been starved of government attention by those who represented them in the past years.
According to him, “I will make a whole lot of difference if elected because in all positions held before now always deliver on promises and mandate given to me”, adding that this time will not be an exception as he is very ready to deliver.
He made it clear that he now has a lot of experience in governance, as he earlier served as Vice Chairman of his LGA, adding that as acting chairman and just recently, the CTC Chairman in the LGA in which he was able to deliver the dividends of democracy to his people, he is now well positioned to purposefully represent the people. “What the people of the constituency need at this point in time is a vocal voice that will be able to articulate and present their problems more appropriately to the authorities for actions to be taken,” he said.
Hon. Lilly-Inia said that the Constituency II of Akulga is the centre point of the oil producing area, therefore, he will ensure regular interface with the oil companies for the youths to be absorbed and better positioned so as to avert youth restiveness in the area and also promised to ensure the empowerment, skill acquisition training of the youths, women and men.
He, therefore, solicited the support of party members and all to ensure his success at the party primary and the general election for him to join others at the State Assembly to initiate bills that will be of benefit to the people of Akulga and the State at large.
A major stakeholder in Kula, Daerego S. W. Asah expressed the hope that if given the chance, Chief Lilly-Inia will replicate his service to his people and bring more developmental projects to the constituency, stressing that his achievement as the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the local government remain indelible and speak volume about his ability to represent the people.
According to him, “Lilly-Inia is the most qualified and competent aspirant on the platform of the PDP, hence the need for all electorate to vote for him, if they have the interest of the constituency at heart”.
