The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Oyigbo State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly in the just concluded general election, Prof. Onyemachi Nwankpa has urged his supporters to be calm and steadfast as justice will be done at last in their election.
Speaking with newsmen in Oyigbo over the weekend, he made it known that it was glaring that the militarization of the election and the violent manipulation of electoral process by the opposition All Progressives Congress/African Action Congress (APC/AAC) robbed the Oyigbo people of their freely given mandate to PDP.
“The allied forces of the opposition party ably assisted by the Minister for Transportation, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was responsible for the stolen mandate and I assure you that we shall go to the election tribunal to retrieve our mandate with the overwhelming evidence in our possession”.
Prof. Nwankpa disclosed further that it was glaring the soldiers had to kill one Chijioke Azuonwu, harassed, intimidated and injured many other electorates in a bid to have their way at the collation centres in Oyigbo which gave the opposition the opportunity to manipulate the results to their advantage.
He made it clear that the superlative performance of Governor Wike in his first tenure especially in Oyigbo including the promises of dualization of Afam/Oyigbo road was enough to return a 100% bulk votes as promised the PDP, and so vehemently join others in rejecting the migre number of votes allotted to the Oyigbo people and his purported loss of the election.
The House of Assembly candidate however used the opportunity to congratulate the governor on his resounding victory at the polls inspite of the machinations of the enemies of the state.
He promised to join hands with other well-meaning Nigerians to support the governor move the state to the next level, adding that Rivers State is PDP and will continue to be so for a long time especially with the execution of numerous peoples oriented projects and programmes by Governor Wike and urged him to continue to consolidate on his achievements.
Prof. Nwankpa assured the governor of the people’s support to him at all times.
