The Traditional Ruler and Amanyanabo of Ogu Kingdom in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, His Majesty, King Nicholas Dickson Ibiebele Nimenibo, Loko IX, has been conferred as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of Southernton Polytechnic, Igbeta-Ewoma, Bayelsa State.

King Nicholas Nimenibo was honoured during the first Matriculation ceremony of the Institute held at the lecture auditorium, Yenagoa campus complex, Bayelsa State recently.

Speaking at the epoch ceremony, the Ogu monarch said he was delighted with the honour and pledged to assist the school to grow rapidly in its academic pursuit.
The Pro-Chancellor enjoined the students to count themselves lucky as pioneers of the institute and charged them to take their studies very seriously, pointing out that skill and technical education is key to nation's development.

The Amanyanabo of Ogu Kingdom further urged the students to work hard to achieve their heart's desires and be good ambassadors of the school by shunning acts inimical to the norms of the society.

He also advised the management and the lecturers to do their best to inculcate in the students good morals and educational upbringing and thanked all for the honour bestowed on him, assuring that he would not disappoint them.

A total of 28 students matriculated in the 2017/2018 vocational training of the institute in the field of School of Industrial Technology, School of Craft and Design Technology, School of Home and Hospitality Management and School of Agro and Allied Production Technology.

Meanwhile, the Amanyanabo of Ogu Kingdom, King Ibiebele Nimenibo has inaugurated a 31-member Book Launch Committee with Professor Atuboyediari Obianime as Chairman.
Inaugurating the committee at his Port Harcourt country home on Sunday, King Nimenibo said he carefully chose them across Wakirike Ethnic Nationality for his autobiography Book Launch and expressed optimism that with the caliber of personality and intellectual planners, they would justify the confidence response on them by organizing an epoch-making ceremony of first-class status.

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Professor Obianime thanked the Ogu monarch for finding them worthy to organize the Book Launch and promised that they would live up to expectation as it is going to be a test case to showcase and boost his traditional institution.

He said that as a high profile event, all members should be hard working and take their assignment seriously to achieve set goals, proposing that the launching will take place in November 2018 all things being equal.
