Worried by the increasing rate of impersonating chieftaincy tittles in Oyigbo, the Oyigbo Traditional Council of Chiefs and Elders has raised alarm over the unfornate development.

Worried by the increasing rate of impersonating chieftaincy tittles in Oyigbo, the Oyigbo Traditional Council of Chiefs and Elders has raised alarm over the unfornate development.

Rising from a quarterly meeting of the body in Oyigbo, the Oji-ofor Ala Oyigbo, Chief Samuel Nkwocha and the community chairman, Chief Samuel Nwankwo said they were shocked to learn that some persons in the area have been arrogating and parading themselves as titled chiefs and paramount rulers in their respective communities.

The council cited the case of Sunday Ojijiagwo who allegedly parades himself as the paramount ruler of Umusia and Onyewe Ala Oyigbo/Asa Clan, stressing that there is neither such title nor such stool in Oyigbo and warned Mr. Ojijiagwo to refrain from such false claim.

They also made it clear that the only king duly elected, crowned by the Oyigbo kingmakers and officially recognized by the Rivers State Government is HRH, Eze (Dr) Mike Nwaji, the Ezeoha Oyigbo and paramount ruler of Oyigbo kingdom, who according to them has justified his position by attracting development to Oyigbo including youths empowerment and unifying all the communities in the kingdom.

The Oyigbo Traditional Council also appealed to the relevant authorities including the Oyigbo Local Government Council and security agencies to beam their searchlight and caution those fomenting trouble in the area by impersonating chieftaincy titles to desist forthwith, from such unholy practice.
