FG Declares Two-Day Public Holiday For Easter Celebration

The Federal Government has officially announced Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Easter celebration, giving Nigerians an extended break for reflection and observance.
The declaration was made by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who congratulated Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora while urging citizens to embrace values such as love, sacrifice, and unity associated with the Easter season.
He emphasized that the period is not only for celebration but also a time to promote peaceful coexistence and national cohesion.
According to him, the government remains committed to policies that will drive economic growth and foster shared prosperity for all Nigerians. The holidays coincide with Good Friday and Easter Monday, both central to the Christian faith, marking the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
