We Embarked On Massive Infrastructural Development On Assumption Of Office – Hon. Lloyd

The Executive Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Hon. Chidi Lloyd, says he embarked on massive infrastructural development when he became Chairman of the council.

Hon. Lloyd who spoke on his administration’s one year anniversary at the council headquarters on Friday, June 8, rendering Account of Stewardship said that he met a dilapidated secretariat on assumption of office.

Hon. Lloyd said: “On our assumption of duties we met a dilapidated secretariat…. The Primary Health Authority was in a sorry state. The staff canteen and other infrastructure were not left out. Giving the situation, there was no conducive atmosphere for proper conduct of government business. This state of affairs motivated us to embark on a massive infrastructural development within and outside the council”.

The council and the entire local government area were turned to a huge construction site for the good of the people, he added.

Hon. Lloyd said he looked back at the past year with sense of satisfaction having recorded progress in the council area.

He said “looking back at the last one year there is no doubt that we have a lot of reasons to glorify God and be thankful for His mercies” saying he looked back with deep sense of satisfaction at the massive difference made in the lives of the people.

He said he received N3,303,966,509.60 (three billion, three hundred and three million, nine hundred and sixty-six thousand, five hundred and nine naira sixty kobo) from the Federation Account and realized N28,231,426.51 (twenty-eight million, two hundred and thirty-one thousand and four hundred and twenty-six naira fifty-one kobo) from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) bringing the total sum to N3,333,197,936.21 (three billion, three hundred and thirty-three million, one hundred and ninety-seven thousand and nine hundred and thirty-six naira twenty-one kobo).

He also said that the IGR improved more than 300% compared to what existed as a result of the expansion of the revenue base, blocking of leakages and improved collection.

The Chairman of the council said that the state government did not deduct any money coming from the federation account saying that any such insinuation was false enabling the council to succeed.

Hon. Lloyd said the council made prudent expenditure on personnel cost, recurrent and overhead costs and on capital projects.

Hon. Lloyd also said that one of the greatest challenges he faced was oil bunkering and commended security agencies for working with him to provide a safe environment for the people.

He named some projects completed by him to include the Emohua Local Government Primary Healthcare Authority, provision of 300KVA transformer at the secretariat, construction of 1 kilometre road at Evekwu Odegwu Community with two-sided way drainage, provision of potable water, furnishing of Marriage Registry Building and the fencing of Divisional Police headquarters at Rumuji.

Other achievements include the provision of ATM gallery, staff canteen, acquisition of land for High Court building, public convenience in the secretariat and provision of transformer for four communities: Ubumini, Agbandele, Ngbuelia-Ndele and EMOVIS Office Complex (Emolga Vigilante Services Office).

He also named ongoing projects and thanked the party leaders and people of the council for their support and the mandate given him.

Delivering a goodwill message, the Leader of the PDP Caucus in the local government, Eze Paul Wokhe Wonodi, JP, thanked Hon. Lloyd for the achievements saying that the people of the local government were proud of him.

Also speaking, a former Chief of Staff during former Governor Dr. Peter Odili’s administration, Chief Hon. Barr. Emeh Glory Emeh, said that the people were seeing what they had not seen before in terms of the achievements by the Chairman.

The people of the local government area were proud of him, he said.

Other goodwill messages also came from the Leader of the Legislative Assembly, Mrs Love Nyenke, who said that the day was a great day for the people of the local government and from a former Commissioner for Housing, Chief Chinedu Tasie, who said the local government had never seen anything like Hon. Lloyd’s achievements as well as from the Head of Personnel Management (HPM).
