Omudioga Community Plays Host To Ogbakor Ikwerre Convention

It was like another Christmas day in Omudioga Community in Emohua local government area of Rivers State over the weekend as the people turned out in their numbers to welcome the leadership of Ogbakor Ikwerre Organization world-wide.
In his address, the Chairman of Ogbakor Omudioga/CDC, Hon. Vincent Chima listed the challenges of the Community which included poor internal road infrastion, need for political autonomy to be detach from Akpabu/Itu under ward 10, a befitting modern market, rehabilitation of primary school, political appointments, installation of paramount ruler, rehabilitation of community water project, and reconnection of the community to national grid.
He remarked that the convention came to their community in a period when they have lost State/national sustenance, isolated from enjoying national benefits alongside other Communities in Ikwerre ethnic nation.
Hon Chima lamented that economically, his Community has about 32 oil wells with a running flow station, a manifold as well as Oil and Gas pipeline, positing that they are also host community to Siat Nigeria limited and the highest donor of land covering over 42 hectares of land squared by Rivers state government, yet the community has remained under abject poverty.
In an interview with journalists, the Chairman, Clan Council of Chiefs, Chief Emmanuel Ihua thanked the leadership of Ogbakor Ikwerre cultural Organization for the choice of his Community for the meeting, adding that it has presented an opportunity for them to voice out their challenges and expressed the hope that they will be communicated to the appreciate authorities for action.
He lamented that the local government authority has not been fair to them considering their huge contributions to GDP of the nation as all their efforts in pleading with the government of the day have not been fruitful, this Save Our Soul massage to the Rivers state government through the Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organization world-wide for intervention.
Responding to the plight of Omudioga Community, the President General of Ogbakor Ikwerre cultural Organization world-wide, Eze Godpower Onuegwa commended the people for their peaceful disposition and patience over the long years of neglect, adding that the case of Omudioga Community is a peculiar case that requires urgent attention.
The Ogbakor Ikwerre boss immediately constituted a three member committee led by its first Vice Chairman to draft our a-well warded letter to the government of Rivers state, under Gov Siminilayi Fubara and list the challenges presented by Omudioga Community as well as copy the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Council, Sir Chidi Lloyd. In his vote of thanks, the Chairman, planning Committee for Ogbakor Ikwerre Convention, Ohna Chikwerre Emeka-Ogbugo expressed satisfaction on the successful hosting of the meeting in their community, adding that Omudioga people were highly elated for the opportunity of hosting an apex decision making body in Ikwerre land just as he commended the people and stakeholders in the community for their cooperation.
