Concerned Rivers Chiefs For Peace And Development, Ready To Facilitate Peace, Unity

In a bolstered effort to strengthen peace, unity and development in Rivers State, a non-governmental organization under the umbrella of Concerned Rivers Chiefs For Peace And Development, led by Chief Boma Kele Oyika has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders in the State to maintain peace and unity.
Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Port Harcourt, the spokesperson of the group. Chief Ibimina Titus Lennox said the emergence of the organization signals a renewed commitment from the traditional leadership in playing an active and organized role in shaping the future of the various communities across the State.
Providing insight into the vision, Chief Lennox disclosed that the group which cut across the 23 local government areas of the State was expected to focus on conflict resolution, community engagement, collaboration with government and private sector actors, adding that its mandate included promoting peace building initiatives supporting local economic empowerment programs, and strengthening traditional institutions in the State and beyond as partners in governance.
He said the organization has officially been registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) granting it legal recognition as a corporate entity, adding that the certificate of incorporation, issued by CAC Abuja on November 22, 2024 with registration number 8089123 confirms the group’s status and it commitment to structured accountable operations.
Speaking further, he said the group is led by a team of respected traditional leaders serving as trustees and that their collective leadership reflects a blend of experience, cultural authority and grassroots connection -key elements considered vital for addressing long-standing, socio-economic and security challenges in the region.
While fielding questions, he emphasized that there was no political undertone to the group’s existence and that the group was not also high jacking the core functions of the traditional rulers but to assist them achieve the needed result.
His words: The formation of this organization comes at a time when communities in Rivers State continue to navigate between issues ranging from youth unemployment, environmental concerns and intermittent conflicts amongst the traditional rulers and beyond. Bringing together influential traditional figures under a unified platform, the group aims at serving as a stabilizing force while advocating for inclusive development.
