2023 Census: Hope Ikiriko Inaugurates A 13-Man Publicity Committee 

 

Tasks Them To Take The Assignment With Utmost Seriousness

The Executive Chairman Of Ahoada West Local Government Area Of Rivers State; Hon. (Evang) Hope O. Ikiriko FCNA., FNES., Ph.D. has, on 18th of April 2023, inaugurated the Ahoada West Local Government Area Census Publicity Committee for the 2023 Population And Housing Census.

The 13 Man committee, which has the Executive Chairman Of Council as the committee Chairman, was inaugurated at the Council Secretariat, Akinima.

The Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Ikiriko, in his welcome speech, thanked the NPC for their presence to witnessing the official inauguration of the committee in the Council.  He further expressed that beyond the members of the committee, the Council has sensitized the people enough to give the commission the necessary support that is required for the exercise.

According to the Chairman while addressing the state NPC Director and her team, “Ahoada West will give you the usual hospitality and ensure that at the end of the day our LGA will not be counted amongst the local government that will ever give you any challenge in the exercise. We know the importance of this exercise, working with our Governor, H.E. Barr. E. N Wike, we have known the need to develop our area not just only in physical infrastructures, but to make sure we reposition the state to take its rightful place in the country, we will mobilize to make sure that our people are counted”.

The Chairman further promised to set up two other committees, Security and logistics committees to make the exercise seemless and successful.

In an address by the Rivers State Director of NPC, Nwineh Baruka Glory, said that publicity is necessary to achieve a successful headcount across the nation, noting that the target of the 2023 census is  to produce accurate, reliable, and acceptable data as the commission will employ the use of technology.

Mrs. Nwineh commended the Council Chairman for his supportive role, especially in areas of accommodation and other welfare.

On his part, Young M. Ayotamuno, State Cordinator of National Orientation Agency, reiterated the commitment of the commission to get it right with the best technology deployed for the 2023 Census.

9. Mr. Egbo Brown – NURTW – Member
10. Mr. Chisa Ordu – NULGE
11. Mr. Igonike Boniface – Motorcycle Riders – Member
12. Mr. Ibe Omimi – NUT – Member
13. Mr. Elijah Harry – NPC – Secretary.

The Secretary of the Committee, Mr. Elijah Harry – who is also the Comptroller of National Population Commission Ahoada West, in his acceptance speech on behalf of the Committee, assured the commitment of the committee in carrying out and adhering to the terms of reference especially on Public Enlightenment and Education and solicit support for the 2023 Census, its process and procedures.

The representative of the Traditional Council; His Majesty King Moore Maclean Ubuo, pledged the support and mobilization of the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs, and their subjects ahead of the 2023 Census

Surv. Ukame Ajie, who gave the vote of thanks, extolled the Council Chairman for his support and further x-rayed other feasible factors that will enhance a hitch free exercise.
