….Sokoto And Bauchi State Governors Join Governor Wike For New Year Fireworks
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, his wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, Deputy Governor Ipalibo Harry Banigo and other top Government Officials welcomed 2020 in the presence of God at the Government House Port Harcourt Chapel of Everlasting Grace.
The Cross Over Night started at about 9pm on Tuesday, 31st December, 2019, with clerics, choristers and top government officials praised God in unison for his mercies and blessings in the outgone year.
The Head of Service, Rufus Godwins led the first prayer session of Thanksgiving for God’s preservation of the life of the Governor and members and the entire leadership of the State.
The second prayer session which was led by Rev Felix Eke focused on thanking God for the various court victories during and after the elections.
He also led prayers for the outstanding developmental projects across the State under the leadership of Governor Wike.
The Choir led the congregation in a medley of songs, praising God and celebrating his blessings to Rivers State and her people in 2019.
The Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike took the first Bible Reading from Exodus 12: 1-14
Deputy Governor Ipalibo Harry Banigo took the second Bible Reading from John 1: 1-18.
Hymns seeking God’s blessing and protection in 2020 were rendered by the congregation in anticipation of a glorious 2020.
In a sermon, Anglican Bishop of Ikwerre Diocese, Rt Revd Blessing Enyindah said that God will multiply Grace and Peace for Rivers people in 2020
He said the year 2020 will be a year of Greater Grace and Peace for Rivers State and her people.
He said people should forget the past challenges and move on to achieve greater successes in 2020.
The celebration ended with fireworks at the forecourt of Government House Port Harcourt. Governor Wike was joined by his Sokoto State Counterpart, Aminu Tambuwal and the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed.
