Rivers PDP Chairman, Bro Obuah Condemns Attack On Party Members In Ikwerre LGA
…Calls It Despicable, Cowardly
The Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro Felix Obuah has condemned in very strong terms the attack on the leadership and members of the party in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State during the voters sensitization programme in IPO Wednesday, November 14, 2018 which left some members of the party dead and many others seriously injured.
Describing the attack as unwarranted, stupid and primitive, Bro Obuah said no opposition worth its salt would resort to violence and killing of innocent citizens it claims to be campaigning for their welfare.
More shocking and devastating, according to the State PDP Chairman is the reaction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State particularly the remarks of Chidi Lloyd who rather than show concern for the callous and cowardly act, retorted that the PDP should look inwards in search for the perpetrators of the act.
Bro Obuah said Mr. Lloyd’s unconcerned attitude and careless comment only smack of complicity and tantamount to admission of guilt.
The State PDP boss however, reminded Chidi Lloyd and his cohorts in APC that life is sacred, and anybody or group of persons who have no regard for life have lost their senses and relevance.
Bro Obuah regretted that politics and political strategies were being distorted from their true meaning of discernible ideology and the use of legitimate means in selling and promoting such ideas to the electorate, which he blamed on the infiltration and hijack of political leadership of some political parties in the State by murder suspects.
While sympathizing with the leadership of the PDP in Ikwerre LGA and the families of the victims of the Wednesday attack, the State PDP chairman called on the police and other security agencies in the State to wake up to their responsibility and ensure that no stone was left unturned in unmasking and arresting all those behind the despicable act, and bringing them to justice accordingly.
