The Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro. Felix Obuah has for the umpteenth time, raised alarm over criminal activities of suspected syndicates who may be using his name to defraud unsuspecting members of the general public.

Bro. Obuah in a statement in Port Harcourt said the fraudsters are using his name to extort money from innocent people, this time, linking his name to a phony ‘Family Support Intervention Fund’.

He said the fraudsters are using his name through phony Facebook accounts to send messages through Facebook Messenger to unsuspecting people, requesting them to apply for ‘Family Support Intervention Fund’, adding that the victims were subsequently requested to pay money into an account for the purpose of ‘facilitating’ their application for the funds.

Some of the phony messages read thus: “You are welcome dear, it’s good to connect you here.  How are you doing?’. Response: “Great, thank you and God bless you”.

“Did you also apply for the family support intervention fund?”  Response: “No, I did not”.

Bro. Obuah, who said he could not tell for how long the fraudsters had carried on their criminal activities, revealed that he only got to know about it when some of those who were sent those messages drew the attention of his aides to their plight.

“The general public is advised to be wary of the kind of text messages they attend to and accounts they pay money into.  Anyone who has been contacted by these criminals using my name, to ask for money or contract or Family Support Intervention Funds, and directed to pay money into any account, should immediately report to the office of the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman or the office of the Sole Administrator, Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) or security agencies”, Bro.
