Atiku Will Lead Nigeria Out Of Quagmire – Jonathan
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said that the PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, will solve the problems confronting the country and bring relief to Nigerians if he is elected President in the February 16 general elections.
Former President Jonathan who stated this in his remarks at the PDP presidential rally in Port-Harcourt at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Monday, said that the All Progressives’ Congress-led federal government had not made progress on any development indices since the government was elected in 2015.
Jonathan said: “From May 2015 to date, a number of things that have never happened in this country have been happening and in 2015, I did mention that the choice before Nigerians is either to move forward or to move backward and within these past, almost, four years, you can attest to yourself whether we are going forward or we are going backward or we are static. All the indices of development… none of them have we made any progress and I believe that … we cannot as a nation continue to stay where we are and we believe very sincerely that the only person among all those who are interested now (in the presidential race) that can lead us and get us out of this quagmire that we are (in) is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar”.
The former president said that Atiku Abubakar would bring progress to Nigeria if elected President and would not discriminate.
He said: “If your son or daughter qualifies to be an IG (Inspector-General of Police), he will be appointed. If your son or daughter qualifies to be appointed as Chief of Army Staff, he will be appointed. You will not be discriminated against and that is the person that we are all supporting”.
He said that the PDP presidential hopeful had been tested and is capable, recalling that the Obasanjo administration where Atiku served as Vice President did well and did not discriminate.
He appealed to Nigerians to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party, saying that a vote for PDP is a vote for the progress of the country.
