PDP Demands Unconditional Release Of Galadima From DSS Detention

The Peoples Democratic Party has condemned in strongest terms the unwarranted arrest of a pro-activist, Buba Galadima by the Department of State Security Services.

In a statement endorsed by the party’s National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, the PDP noted with concern the arrest of Mr. Bubs Galadima, whom it referred to as a patriot of note acknowledged by Nigerians, including President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the PDP, Galadima “is constitutionally guaranteed a right of freedom of speech and freedom after the speech.”

The party wondered why in the midst of violence that characterized the just conducted presidential and national assembly elections, the state apparatus would find it convenient to effect the arrest of Mr. Galadima. The party alleged that Galadima’s arrest by the DSS was orchestrated by the APC Campaign Council.

“The APC Presidential Campaign Council called for the arrest of Mr. Galadima at 12 noon today ( Sunday the 24th of February. 2019) and the arrest was effected by the DSS an hour later.”

The statement reminded the APC-led federal government that, the country witnessed an orgy of killings ” caused by the thugs of the APC. According to PDP, no one got arrested in all the political killings that took place in the country.

It also accused the APC for masterminding the reported incident of drone images of bullion vans laden with cash driving into the home of the National Leader of the APC .According to the PDP, no action has been taken by the law enforcement authorities.

“Yet a patriot and pro- democracy activist is arrested, says the PDP.

The PDP dubbed the arrest as latest in a pattern of anti- democratic actions by the Buhari government.

The PDP stressed the need for the immediate release of Mr. Buba Galadima by the DSS,even as it reminded the DSS and other security agencies that their oath of allegiance was sworn to Nigerians and not to the APC or President Buhari.

PDP reassured that the nation will not be cowed, adding that democracy has come to stay.

It took a swipe at the APC led government blaming it for having taken Nigeria to the depth, whereby the once thriving economy took a turn for the worst as the nation under the APC currently ranked “the world headquarters of extreme poverty.”
