FCE (T) Omoku Mourns Former Provost, Prof.  Wokocha

The Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku Rivers State has been thrown into mourning following the passing-on of a former Provost of the College, Professor Sir Chief Addison Mark Wokocha FNIM, FNAE, FFCETOM, Fcai, MPOM, KSJA, PHF, JP.

The Late Professor A.M. Wokocha who held the Chieftaincy title of “Ikemba of Ogbaland” was the 3rd Provost of the Institution from 1998 to 2005 and honoured as a Fellow of the College in 2016 because of the good works he did in the College, was also the first Ogba Man to head the fast growing Federal Institution.

As a mark of honour, Management of the College declared a 3-day mourning in the school (March 11th – 13th, 2019) with the College Flag flown half mast throughout the period while a Condolence Register was opened at the College Administrative Block in honour of the departed former Provost.

According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the College, Prince Charles Amadike-Otoboh, JP, Management of the College led by its Provost, Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri on Tuesday March 12, 2019 paid a condolence visit on the deceased family at his home town, Okposi near Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State to condole with the family over the death of the erudite scholar.

Speaking during the visit, the Provost Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri described the demise of the former Provost as unfortunate and great loss to the institution noting that his record of achievements in the College is yet to be superseded by any other Provost. He prayed the Almighty God to grant the soul of the former Provost peaceful rest and give the bereaved family,the entire Ogba People and indeed the Academic Community the fortitude to bear the great loss.

Responding on behalf of Late Bishop Mark Egba Wokocha’s family of Okposi Town, Chief Conqueror Mark Wokocha (Eze-Alioyibo-1 of Okposi) commended the FCE (T), Management for the prompt Condolence Visit and also thanked the College for the honour accorded their son before and now and promised that during the burial arrangement the College will be notified accordingly.

On hand to receive the visitors were former Commissioner in Rivers State Hon. Sir Augustine Onyekachi Wokocha, Chairman, NBA Omoku Branch, Associate Professor Aduche Wokocha, a Lecturer with Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt, Dr. Harcourt Wokocha, Head of Mechanical Unit, FCE (T) Omoku, Mr. Chika Wokocha among others.

Late Prof, Sir, Chief Addison Mark Wokocha who once served as Provost FCE (T), Omoku, Provost COE, Port Harcourt now (Ignatius Ajuru, University of Education, Port Harcourt), Registrar/CEO Teachers Registration Council Abuja and Professor Rivers State University Port Harcourt formerly (RSUST) among others  passed-on at Abuja on 6th March, 2019 following a brief illness. He was 71 years.
