Barr. Utchay Hails Gov Wike’s Electoral Victory

One of the Special Advisers to the Rivers State Governor, Barr. Emmanuel Utchay, has congratulated Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on his re-election as governor of the state for another four years, describing it as well deserved and ordained by God Almighty.

Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt, over the weekend, he made it clear that with what transpired throughout the electoral process in the state, it is only God who would have made the victory possible.

While calling for an end to all politically motivated violence and hostilities among political gladiators in the state, the Special Adviser commended the governor for being magnanimous in victory by promising an all-inclusive administration irrespective of political inclination in order to engender peace which is a necessity for development.

He used the opportunity to appeal to political actors in the state to be statesmen who should be more concerned about the next generation rather than the next election, adding that the tendency to remain in power at all cost were responsible for the rising surge of violence or even the militarization of election.

According to him, “It is important that the opposition political parties grab the rare opportunity of the olive branch offered by the governor to contribute their own quota in the task of moving the state forward,” he declared.

Barr. Utchay urged every aggrieved persons in course of the 2019 general election to bury their hatchets and allow Rivers State move forward. He also used the opportunity to commiserate with the families of all the people who paid the supreme sacrifice in course of defending the nascent democracy, including those who sustained various degree of injuries or loss.

Barr. Utchay equally commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for standing their ground to do the right thing despite the pressure from higher authorities to thwart the will of Rivers people.

The Special Adviser equally used the opportunity to commend the religious leaders in the state for their fervent prayers for a successful and peaceful election, as well as Rivers people and residents for their steadfastness and support for the PDP.

He assured that the confidence and trust they reposed in the governor is not misplaced as the governor is committed to offering a purposeful leadership to the state.
