Elder Statesman, Alh. Abubakar Orlu Hails Wike’s Policies

…Lambasts Critics

An elder statesman and Islamic leader in the state, Chief Alh. Abubakar Orlu, says those who are not comfortable with what he called laudable policies and programme of the Wike administration are enemies of progress and the state.

Alh. Orlu who is the President-General of the Muslims in the South-South and South-East made the observation while chatting with newsmen in Port Harcourt.

According to him, all the people throwing punches at Governor Nyesom Wike because of his pragmatic leadership style which negates the old order of talking much and doing nothing are only hitting the air because the governor is on the right track of seeing that all nooks and crannies of Rivers State are developed.

He argued that Port Harcourt remains the state capital and seat of oil and gas in the country which has attracted people from within and outside to do business in the state.

Chief Alh. Orlu therefore faulted those accusing Governor Wike of concentrating development projects in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor, advising such critics to consider relocating to their communities with their business concerns so as to help develop such areas.

The statesman who also doubles as a United Nations Peace Ambassador said comparatively, Governor Wike has executed more visible projects that have direct impacts on the people than the previous administration.

Alh. Ordu commended Governor Wike for his developmental strides particularly the construction of flyovers at different points in Port Harcourt to ease traffic congestion.

The Muslim leader advised that rather than get distracted, Governor Wike should continue with the good works he is doing and ignore the uncomplimentary remarks of those he called arm-chair critics.

On the 2023 general elections in the country, the elder statesman said interested and qualified Ikwerre ethnics should go ahead and contest the relevant positions including the governorship of Rivers State on the platform of any political party of their choice, stressing that an Ikwerre ethnic will still scale through as Governor in the guber-election in the state.
