Rivers State University VC Wants Impetus To Post-graduate Schools
The Vice Chancellor f the Rivers State University, Prof. Blessing Didia says post-graduate schools of the Nigerian Universities should be strengthened to discourage foreign scholarships due to the economic downturn in the country.
Professor Didia who stated this when the committee of Dean of Nigerian Universities paid him a courtesy visit, also observed that post-graduate schools still remain the fulcrum of future development of Nigeria because they produce high level manpower for the universities.
Professor Blessing Didia who lauded the postgraduate schools for boosting the Internal revenue base of Universities, urged the body to support the Vice Chancellors in attracting desired funds for the running of the Universities.
In the meantime, the Chairman, Committee of Deans of Postgraduate Schools in Nigeria, Professor Bamidele Sanni, called for a halt in the award of foreign scholarship and the deployment of such funds to improve on the standard of Nigerian universities.
Professor Bamidele Sanni, said the body was in the State to brainstorm on improving existing Postgraduate programmes in Universities.
