Tricycle Riders Urged To Do Away With Crime
The chairman of the Rivers State Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Chukwuma Otugbuali has enjoined members of the association not to engage in criminal activities or anything that would tarnish the good image of the association.
He made the charge while interacting with newsmen in Port Harcourt. Chukwuma said member caught or involved in crime or anything that will drag the name of the association to the mud would be severely dealt with.
Chairman Chukwuma disagreed to the allegation that tricycle operators are criminals and argued that criminals also make use of taxis and buses in carrying out their nefarious activities.
While explaining that tricycle operators in Port Harcourt would in no distant time give out code numbers to help in identifying the genuine members of the association from the fake, he commended Governor Wike for emerging victorious in the just concluded governorship election in the state despite the challenges.
He expressed joy that the tricycle union of Nigeria and the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers are well recognized in Nigeria.
The TOAN boss also solicited for Governor Wike’s assistance in subsidizing the cost of tricycles because of the high cost of the cycle. The cost of one tricycle according to the TOAN chairman is about N700,000 and about N1.3million for hire purchase which is not easy to afford by the tricycle operators.
