The Rivers State Police Command says it has in less than 24 hours after the tragic killing of two Mobile Policemen at Ojoto Street in Mile 1 Diobu, PH, arrested nine (9) Suspects, who are currently being investigated in connection with the dastardly act.
The officers were attached to a Beer Distribution Company, popularly known as “Paddy Man” located at Nwachukwu/Ojoto Street in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State. They were reportedly on their way to deposit cash for the company in the bank alongside some other administrative staff when they were ambushed by masked men who shot them dead.
Their arrest according to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Nnamdi Omoni was made possible barely 12 hours after the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman A.Belel, issued a marching order to all the Commanders of the Tactical Units to arrest with immediate effect the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
The Suspects arrested are currently being interrogated and will be made to bear the full weight of law, if found complicit.
The Commissioner of Police appealed to the residents of the State to remain calm; as there is no cause for alarm, assuring that the Command will not spare any effort in unveiling the identities of the assailants.
He further appealed to the public to support the Police with credible information that can burst not just this gang but other criminal gangs terrorizing the State and consequently make the State liveable and peaceful for all.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Rivers State Police Command on Monday night raided brothels located in Diobu, a densely populated area of Port Harcourt in search of rifles of the two policemen and arrested several female sex workers and their male clients.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the raid on the brothels, said it was part of crime control and preventive measures.
The spokesman of Diobu Vigilante Group, Prince Amatiri-Bipelidei, expressed worry that those who carry out criminal activities in the area, are always released immediately after arrest by the police.
Amatiri-Bipelidei said: “My worry is that when these boys are arrested, the next day you see them out and committing same crime.
“Now, two police men have been shot, I didn’t see the Civil Societies people protesting, if it’s the police that killed an armed robber, they (Civil Societies) will come out in their numbers to protest and call names.”
