Community Leader, Late ‘De Inno’, For Burial Friday
The body of late Elder Innocent Ndiukwuegbulam Azubike who died on the midnight of Friday, May 10, 2019 at the age of 85 years, will be laid to rest on Friday, July 19, 2019 in his home town, Amuzi, Dim-Na-Nume Autonomous Community in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State.
A statement by Port Harcourt based journalist and the deceased’s younger brother, Chief Godfrey Azubike, said the late Azubike would be remembered as a community leader of note, mentor and former Home Branch Chairman of Amuzi Progressives Union (APC) where he served and deftly left indelible footprints.
He further described his late brother as a man of the people who was loved by all, saying that he was bold, courageous and never ran away from challenges.
Also known for his uncompromising stance against every conceivable forms of injustice, ‘De Inno’, as the deceased was fondly called during his lifetime, was said to have distinguished himself in community service. A peep at his profile also showed that the deceased was a former Exco member of the said apex ruling body of the community.
A devout Christian of the Anglican Communion, the late Elder Azubike was a member of the church council of the New Covenant Anglican Church, Amuzi, a position he held until his demise.
The terse statement added that the body of the deceased community leader would make a brief stopover in his residence in Amuzi for a brief lying-in-state before departing for a commendation service at the New Covenant Anglican Church, Amuzi after which it would be interred.
