National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Rivers State Chapter has expressed its total commitment to ensuring good standard and quality education in the state, saying it is the vision of every private school owners to give the best of education to children.
The State Chairman of NAPPS, Hon. Chief Victor Green who stated this said the renewed plan of the Rivers State government for approval and certification of private schools was welcomed as it is in exercise of government oversight role and quality control measures to enable schools give optimal services.
Speaking at the end of the meeting of the association in Port Harcourt to review the government plan to further carryout approval and certification of private schools in the state, Chief Green said the services of all government approved schools were contributing to improving the economy of the state and appealed to the state government to consider providing fiscal support for NAPPS members in form of loans.
He maintained that such financial support will complement the effort of proprietors in meeting government standard for the state.
He made it known that NAPPS is ready to support every policy of government to achieve quality education for children in the state as long as its intention was never to shut down schools.
According to the chairman, “NAPPS has resolve to cooperate and work with the Rivers State government on its approval and certification of private schools such plans encourages private schools to run standard and quality education”, he declared.
He stated further that the government is playing its oversight function in trying to tell them the right thing to do and would therefore not do anything to challenge such policy of government.
“We believe that everything will be settled amicably. The committee should look at issues concerning us with compassion and advise us on how to improve on what we are doing and not to recommend shutting down schools as it is never a better option because peoples livelihood depends on such schools.
The NAPPS chairman who expressed confidence on the ability of the committee to deliver on the mandate in the best interest of the state further said, “Rivers State must enjoy quality education but we may need an extension of time to meet necessary condition of government to make it work”.
