FG Advised To Support RSG Security Initiative

The Federal Government of Nigeria has been called upon to emulate and support the security initiative of the Rivers State Government in tackling the security challenges bedevilling the country if it is sincere in its effort to restore peace in the land.

HRH Eze Ken O. Nwala, Ugo I of Etcheland, Onyeishi Agwuru III and Paramount Ruler of Ulakwo/Umuselem Kingdon stated this in a chat with newsmen over the weekend in Port Harcourt during the launching of the security initiative by Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

He stated clearly that the programme is a laudable one which shows the determination of the governor to restore peace in Rivers State having granted amnesty to the criminally minded elements and cultists in the society, adding that “carrot and stick is a management tool to achieve set goal.

The monarch also stated that it is important the traditional rulers are considered to play a role in the new security architecture as leaders of their respective communities.

He said that the welfare packages for eventual victims of the security operators was most encouraging and a moral booster for them to bring out their best for the service delivery and appeal for total cooperation of everybody in this regards.

In addition, the monarch advised the people to come up with useful information for the operatives, while they in turn protect the informants’ identity to improve the symbiotic relationship in achieving set goal. 

Eze Nwala used the opportunity to advise the FG to be cautious in its policies and programmes, adding that what the citizens needed most now as a matter of urgency is the improvement of the Nigerian economy which he noted would eventually create job opportunities that would put food on the peoples table.

“There is too much hardship hunger and poverty in the land, coupled with unnecessary killings, kidnapping and criminality generally,” he noted.

The monarch made it known that while the Buhari administration takes the country to the “next level” it should consider these evil bedeviling the country and find solution to them and not to introduce unnecessary policies and programmes that is obviously aimed at  dividing the country.
