OML 25: Nobody Has Right To Take Laws Into Own Hands, Says Chief Of Staff

Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor, Engr Chukwuemeka Woke, has stated that nobody has the right to take the laws into his own hands in the state.

Engr Woke also stated that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has the constitutional responsibility to protect the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at all times.

Appearing on Viewpoint, a Phone-in Programme of Rhythm FM Port Harcourt on Saturday, Chukwuemeka Woke said that Governor  Wike will never shy away from his responsibilities of promoting peace and security across the state.

Engr Woke explained that he decided to participate directly in the programme after several attempts to participate via telephone failed to yield fruits as he was never connected to the live studio.

“I express my displeasure on the attitude of your programme. A situation where you create platforms for 419ers to come and misinform Rivers people. Seated by my left is Gani Togba. It is unfortunate that a man like Togba will come here and dish out tissues of lies.

“Governor Wike has the right to protect the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nobody has the right to take the laws into his own hands.

“For two years, the OML 25 has been besieged by some persons. Three meetings took place before a resolution was reached. How can Gani Togba be talking about issues that he knows nothing about. The major concern of Governor Wike is the security of lives and property.

“For two good years, the Federal Government was unable to resolve this matter. If the matter is subjudice as Gani Togba says, is it the right of any party to the matter to occupy the oil platform for two years? “he asked.

He said that all major stakeholders participated in the three meetings that led to the resolution of the conflict on the OML 25.

The Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor berated his co-discussant on the programme for allowing himself to be used as a mercenary in an issue that he lacks information.

“Why is Gani Togba a mercenary. In every situation, he capitalises to play 419. And you allow him to use your platform to play 419. I have evidence to prove that he is into 419.

“Who gave you 7000 Ogoni people and who made you the Spokesman of Ogoni people?  Nobody can use this platform to run down the Government of Rivers State.  This nonsense should stop. People should not use your platform to disparage the efforts of the Rivers State Government “, he said.

Expectedly, The Nation Newspaper displayed editorial rascality, mischief and laziness in reporting the appearance of the Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor on last Saturday’s Viewpoint.  The Newspaper claimed that Engr Chukwuemeka Woke disrupted a programme where he participated, argued with Gani Togba, the sponsored mercenary and thereafter left for other official engagements. After the Chief of Staff left, Gani Togba continued with his lies.

If The Nation Newspaper APC Sponsored Correspondent had been diligent in his work, he would have watched the entire episode on Viewpoint Rhythm FM Facebook Page. But as usual, The Nation Newspaper thrives in falsehood and anti-Rivers reports.

If you watch the Facebook broadcast of the programme, you will see Rhythm FM Port Harcourt Technical Staff setting up the microphone for the Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor to air his views on the programme that The Nation Newspaper reported was disrupted.
