NUJ Congratulates New Information Commissioner

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, has congratulated Mr. Joseph Johnson on his appointment as the new Commissioner for Information and Communications in the State.

In a statement signed by the State Chairman of NUJ, Stanley Job Stanley and Secretary, Ike Wigodo, the Union noted that Johnson’s appointment is a testimony of his good records as a diligent and hard working journalist and publisher.

The Union described Hon. Johnson as a a thoroughbred journalist and notable publisher who has been in the business of information dissemination for many decades in Rivers State, and expressed optimism that the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalaye Fubara, and the entire Rivers State Executive Council will find him useful for the developmental agenda of the new administration in the State.

The Council urged the new commissioner to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment as the Number One Information Manager in the State.

“While we are proud and happy to identify with Hon. Joseph Johnson in his new assignment as Commissioner for Information and Communications in Rivers State, we want to implore him to deploy his wealth of experience as a professional journalist to the service of the State in a very professional and decent way that will make every journalist in the State proud.

“We also want to advise him to work in tandem with other Journalists and information managers in the State to enable him meet the demands of his office and realise the set goals of the State Government”, the statement advised.

The NUJ commended Governor Fubara for finding one of his members worth of appointment and assured that the Council will always support the developmental agenda of the State Government.
