CS-SUNN Strategizes To Address Malnutrition Among Women, Children
In accordance with it’s vision to transform Nigeria into a country where every citizen has food and Nutrition is secured, a non-profit making organization, Civil Society-Scaling up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) has rolled out strategies to address malnutrition among women and children in River State.
The state co-ordinator of CS-SUNN, Mr Gift Budhizi Oguzor, dropped the hint while speaking at the two day dissemination and nutrition stakeholders meeting held at East Lake Hotel Port Harcourt.
He reiterated the need to domesticate and implement the National Multi-sectoral Strategic Plan of Action for Nutrition in the State adding that other organizations with the shared vision to ensure that Nigeria is a place where every citizen is nutritionally fed to key into the fight against malnutrition.
The CS-SUNN Co-ordinator also disclosed that the organization was established in 2013 with the guidance from Civil Society Network under the Scaling-up Nutrition Movement to bring together non-state actors in Nigeria to jointly advocate and engage to scale-up nutrition interventions in the fight against malnutrition.
He further disclosed that the organization is a unique movement that unites the Government, Civil Society, the United Nations, Businesses and Researchers (academia) in a collective effort to improve nutrition with strategic focuses on Partnership, Advocacy, Capacity Building, Evidence Generation and Institutionalization of the movement.
“CS-SUNN is implementing a Scale-up Nutrition (SUN) movement pooled fund grant that supports multi-stakeholders platforms in order to increase the effectiveness and impact of national and subnational efforts to end malnutrition in all it’s forms”, he hinted.
The pooled funds according to Mr Oguzor is being implemented in 6 locations in Nigeria, which are Oyo, Kwara, Imo, Gombe, Rivers and FCT.
