FG Issues Three Week Ultimatum To NDDC Contractors
The Federal Government has directed all the Niger Delta Development Commission’s contractors handling abandoned projects in the Niger Delta communities to return to site within three weeks.
The Head, Press and public Relations at the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Patricia Deworitshe, in a statement said the head of the ministry, Godswill Akpabio, disclosed this when the Niger Delta Agitators Network, Abuja chapter, led by Safety Numonde, paid him a courtesy call in Abuja on Thursday.
The minister said the Federal Government would not invest in the development of the area if there was no assurance that money invested would yield expected result.
On the effort of his ministry to bring sustainable development to the region, Akpabio said the ministry would engage international partners to develop the Niger Delta.
He said, “The ministry is planning to train 18,000 youths in different vocational skills with the National Directorate of Employment. The ministry is partnering the Central Bank of Nigeria entrepreneurship programmes and NDE to train at least 27,000 people in the region.”
