Allegations of favouritism and tribalism are now trailing the ongoing recruitment of academic and non academic staff at the Federal  College of Education(Technical)  in Omoku,Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local Government area of Rivers State.

Some applicants in an interview with our reporter had claimed that due diligence was not followed by the institutions management during the process of screening and short- listing of applicants for interview. They alleged that the exercise favoured persons who are related to some of the top management staff of the college.

Some of their claims were that the institution did not publish the invitation for eligible candidates to apply in any newspaper but allegedly sent out messages to friends and relatives of some top Management staff with directives to apply for some vacant positions.

Others  stated  that process of recruitment of academic and non-academic staff is suppose to be transparent to ensure that the best are selected since it has a lot to do with impacting and transfer of knowledge.

The dissatisfied applicants argued that the school management did not also consider some contract staff that have been in the system for some years who had been hoping that they would be converted to permanent staff.

In his reaction, the spokesperson of the institution, Prince Charles Amadike Otoboh in a text message to National Network maintained that the exercise followed due process, was transparent and still ongoing.

He said as a federal institution, qualified/successful candidates no matter their state of origin will be considered.

He urged the general public to discountenance the allegations, describing it as a sidetalk.
