Kidnappers Of Two Police Officers  Yet To Contact Victims’ Families, 9 Days After

Unknown gunmen who kidnapped two Police officers in Ngo town in Andoni local Government area of Rivers state last week are yet to make contact with the families of the victims or Government in the state nine days after the incident National Network can report.

The development had led to palpable fear among travellers plying the Ngo water ways .The failure of  the abductors   to communicate the families of the victims as well as the Government has  also triggered anxiety over the safety of the Police officers, a source within the force informed our reporter. The two security personnel were kidnapped by unknown gunmen together with the driver of the boat who was conveying them along Ngo water ways.

In the meantime,  stakeholders in the area have expressed worry over the safety of lives and property in  due to kidnap incident. Chairman of traditional rulers council in Andoni local Government area, His Royal Majesty Aaron Ikuru in his reaction said ‘if Policemen can be abducted, it means nobody is safe in the place’.He called for provision of more security personnel in the area.

The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command , DSP Nnamdi Omoni in a statement revealed that the Police has commenced investigations into the incident.

In a related development respite may have come the way of travellers plying Ozuoha-Ubima road in Ikwerre local Government area of Rivers State following a manhunt launched by security operatives for a suspected kidnap kingpin Oscar Wela who hails from Ubima community. The Council Chairman ,Hon.Samuel Nwanosike had in a statement  declared the suspected kidnap kingpin wanted and placed a bounty of two million naira on him.

Communities with the most recent were the abduction of a woman and two of her children.

The suspect is believed to be a member of Iceland cult group. The kidnap lord is accused of killing three security operatives attached to SIAT Nigeria Limited (Former Risoplam) some weeks ago.

The peace deal signed by suspected cultists in Ubima in May 2019 had collapsed following renewed hostilities by rival cultists. Natives fear that the rate of kidnapping may increase following the re-grouping of cultists.
