Humanitarian Services Make JCI Relevant- Chapter President  – Chapter President

The President of Junior Chambers International, JCI, Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Mr. Patrick Ahunanya has assured that the organization will continue to make meaningful impacts in the lives of the people through its various humanitarian services, most especially with its vibrant youths  all over the country.

The JCI chapter President, Trans Amadi stated this in an interview during the body’s first meeting in the year 2020 which held Sunday at Tokyo Grand Hotels, Stadium Road in Port Harcourt.

Mr.Ahunaya  informed that JCI attracts active youths between the ages of 18 and forty years, who have the potentials to make waves around the world. According to him, JCI offshoots are present in various higher institutions of learning across Nigeria. He stated that undergraduate members are regarded as collegiate.

He added that upon their graduation they are free to become full members of the Junior Chambers International, stressing that though commitment and  handwork, the Trans Amadi chapter of the body was able to produce the National President of the group.

“We have also been able to produce the world president. JCI headquarters is in the United States,” he said.

He also informed that the Trans Amadi Chapter under which he emerged the chapter president had been able to produce the national president and the world president of the organization. “We have somebody in our midst here, from our chapter servig as the world president of JCI.

“JCI has a seat in the UN General Assembly; till today JCI’s Senator Pascal Uzike has a seat in the UN General Assembly. When there is anything to be deliberated, he made sure that JCI voice is being heard,” said the chapter president.

Speaking on the significant contributions of the body to humanity, he expressed confidence that when projects by JCI is put together across different sections of the country, the impacts will be enormous, when compared to what an individual can achieve.

The Trans Amadi chapter president also unveiled plans for the 2020, by stating that programmes are underway to plant 1,000 trees across Nigeria to support the ecosystem ad make the environment more livable. To achieve this, he said all JCI representatives from various parts of Nigeria can through each chapter choose to plant 50 to 100 trees.

He assured that regular trainings to build members capacity will be put in place in order to continue to add positive values to the lives of the youths of the organization.

According to Ahuanya, impacts generated by activities of the body in the past body,had attracted even people  in government to the JCI, citing instances of some of the local government chairmen in the state who are now members of JCI chapters. He also explained  that conferences have been earmarked for  the year 2020 that would take numbers to different parts of the country.

He explained that opportunities abound in the JCI which can promote a nobody to become somebody in life. He said that this year’s world congress will hold in October in Japan, where about 100 JCI members from Nigeria are expected to participate.

On membership, the chapter president said the organization welcomes individuals to attend its meetings upon which there would be an induction to full-fledged membership. He said part of the benefits of the body include having an identity card which is like an ATM card that  affords carriers opportunity  to enjoy discounted transactions all over the world, apart from enjoying close relationship of JCI members spread all over the world as one travels far and near around the globe.

He threw further light on membership eligibility which includes persons under 40 years. He said that those above 40 years still have a place in the senior cadre being referred to as Senators.

He said that the senior members regarded as Senators oversee the affairs of the JCI by overseeing matters bothering on elections of  new JCI and ensuring order in the organization.

The Trans-Amadi Chapter president emphasized some of his goals for the year to include humanitarian services projects, training and orientation and awareness campaign for keke tricycle riders to curtail recklessness on the road.
