…Says It’s Good Omen
The Labour Party of Nigeria (LNP) said it fully supports the deregistration of 74 political Parties by the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC), adding that it wished they would further be reduced to four political parties for easy management by the electoral body.
The Rivers State Chairman of the party, Prince Favour Reuben, stated this on Monday in Port-Harcourt while briefing newsmen. The Chairman made it clear that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP) and perhaps the All Progressives Congress (APC), are the only political parties that exist in Rivers State, describing the rest as nothing but mere association that should be discarded.
Meanwhile, Prince Rueben has said : Labour Party is not comfortable with the sealing off the Labour House by the Rivers state Government as a result of minimum wage controversy.
He said Labour Party condemn the action of the State Government in its entirety. But appealed to the NLC not to embark on industrial action over the issue but to go back to the negotiating table with the government and find a solution. The party also called for the reformation of civil service.
The party said it is the only opposition party in Rivers State which has the interest of the State at heart and so would not sit back and watch while things go wrong.
It used the opportunity to commend the Wike administration for road construction works in the State especially the three flyover bridges under construction. The party called on the government to create alternative routes for road users in order to alleviate people`s suffering.
The party equally called on Rivers State House of Assembly to enact law that would stop youths, groups or communities from disrupting business activities and projects sited in their areas.
He called on stakeholders, the organized private sector, politicians and well meaning people of the state to eschew political differences and support the Wike-led administration for good governance.
