The Nigeria Customs Service has asked the Economic and Finacial Crimes Commission to factor it into its training programmes in order to improve the capacity of its personnel.
The Custom Area Controller in Port Harcourt, Comptroller Awwal Mohammed made the request during a courtesy visit to the Port Harcourt zonal office of the EFCC. “Any seminar you organize, invite us so that we can update ourselves,” he said.
Mohammed who recently assumed office as the Area Controller, said he was at the EFCC with a message to improve on the cordial relationship between the Agencies. “I want to assure the Zonal Head, of total cooperation, working in harmony to improve on our cordial relationships,” he said.
On his part,the head of the Port Harcourt Zonal office of the EFCC, Usman Imam congratulated Mohammed on his appoint, and assured him of the support of the zone in making his tenure successful.
The EFCC boss who recalls his recent visit to Mohammed’s predecessor, harped on the imperatives of institution building. ” A few weeks ago, I was at your office to introduce myself to your predecessor. That he has left and you are now in the saddle tells us one thing, the institution is what binds us together. So, in whatever we do, we must strengthen our institutions to achieve their objectives.
“EFCC and the Nigeria Customs Service are strong partners in the fight against economic crimes and we will work together to strengthen this partnership and take it to new heights”, he said.
