The Senate President, Distinguished Senator Ahmad Lawan, has assured the people of Ogoni of the speedy passage of the Bill for the Establishment of the Federal University of Environmental Technology in Ogoniland when it comes up for third reading at the Senate Chambers.
He gave the assurance when the Senator representing Rivers South-East in the red Chamber, Distinguished Senator Barinada Mpigi, led a delegation from Rivers State on a courtesy visit to him in his office after the public hearing on the bill.
Distinguished Senator Lawan congratulated Distinguished Senator Mpigi for his courage to present the bill and for the quality representation he is giving the people of the Senatorial District in particular and Rivers State generally.
The Senate President stated that the establishment of the University in Ogoni is long overdue as it will go a long way to assuage the feelings of the people of Ogoni and bring about the much needed development in the area.
