Barry Mpigi Donates Operational Vehicles To Police

…Says Community Policing Should Be Responsibility Of All

The Senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Barinada Mpigi, is calling on people of the Senatorial District to take community policing as their responsibility.

Senator Barry Mpigi made the call when he donated operational vehicles to the Nigerian police force in the area and a utility vehicle to the Divisional Police Officer of Bori Division for his gallant and impactful performance.

The federal lawmaker said the issue of security should be the collective responsibility of everybody so as to support the security operatives succeed.

“Security is not a one-man business at all. In as much as the Governor is the Chief Security Officer of the State and the Local Government Chairman is the Chief Security Officer of the LGA, there must be a security bond amongst all of us, so that you can tell mister A, what you’re doing is bad though sometimes that gives us a bad name. I’ve been around the system, the truth is that we should not shy away. We must have to work together so any one you try and you decide to look at number of people in the area saying this not good, please withdraw from that one. Give them what they want because they’re the people you wish to guide in the area”, he said.

Distinguished Senator Mpigi said the car gift to the DPO Bori was his personal appreciation to him for the monumental job the DPO is doing in not only Bori Division but the entire Senatorial District.

He urged the police force to strictly profile community policing nominees to ensure that criminal elements are not enlisted as such would be detrimental to the security of the area.

Responding on behalf of the police, the Area Commander of Eleme Police Command, ACP Martins Nwogoh, said the vehicles given to them will help them to discharge their duties effectively.

ACP Nwogoh thanked Senator Mpigi for the gesture and urged him to continue to support the police to succeed in the fight against crime in the area.
