Suspected Rapists Threaten Whistle Blowers At Waterfront Community

Reports reaching National Network News desk suggest that suspected cultists believed to be responsible for rape of women at Nanka waterfront, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State may be targeting persons they believe gave out information to the Police about their heinous activity, our source revealed.

A resident of the community told our reporter that after intense patrol of the area by the Police penultimate weekend, information leaked to the suspected cult members that security operatives where on their trail.

We learned that the members of the group reportedly queried relatives and parents of their latest victims to ascertain if they were the ones who reported the matter to the Police.

A resident of the community who spoke to our reporter on telephone expressed shock how the information was leaked to the group. The resident who preferred to remain anonymous said the development may discourage people from giving voluntary and useful information to security operatives.

National Network had exclusively reported how members of the gang which many term ‘ Point and Rape’  reportedly rapes any lady they choose to and threaten to kill the lady and her family members should they inform the Police.

A source in the community had told our reporter that some of the victims of the rape incident are afraid to report to the Police because of threat of wiping out their family by the armed gang.

It would be recalled that an underage female rape victim told our reporter that in her own case a member of the group forced her out of the room where she was relaxing in full glare of people and threatened to deal decisively with anybody that mention the incident afterward including her.

The female revealed that she was taken to a dark corner in the waterfront where the member of the gang raped her to his satisfaction before she was left to go back home.

One of the leaders of the community who craved anonymity told our reporter that he witnessed on one  occasion when the leader of the gang was raping an underage girl at a corner in the waterfront while his men provided protective cordon for him.

He explained that residents are afraid of the gang members who carry out their activities unchallenged.

The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command, SP Nnamdi Omoni was yet to comment on the issue.
