Group Kicks Against Relocation Of NLG Train-7 Contract To  Lagos State

A Non Governmental Organization (NGO) under the aegis of South-South Chiefs, Elders and Opinion Leaders has kicked against the sitting of the Engineering Design and Procurement sections of the over $40 billion dollars contract in favour of Saipen in a joint venture with Daewoo and E. & C. Company Ltd and Chlyoda Corp to Lagos.

Briefing the press Monday September 7, 2020, the group said while expressing joy over such development, it would have been better that such good things are sited within the host communities in Rivers State to boost their economy, enhance employment opportunity and equally boost her revenue generation for the people of the South-South region.

“We demand that the companies review their decision of locating these important departments to Lagos State as it is not in the best interest of the region in general and the host communities in particular.

And so we therefore appeal that you relocate the engineering and procurement of the LNG TRAIN – 7 contracts to Rivers State South-South region of Nigeria as indicated in the advanced notice to the relevant authorities,” they declared.

The group however warned that they will consider a legal action against the companies concerned should their appeal be disregarded to redress what it described as discriminatary and oppressive policies.

In a statement signed and circulated to the press by High Chief (Dr.) Omubo A. Harry and Comrade Charles Inko-Tariah, Chairman and Secretary respectively, the group warned against taking them for a ride. They promised to do all within their power to support the contractors achieve their set goal for mutual benefit.

On the working relationship between the South-South Governors and the group, Chief Harry said it is very cordial as according to him, all their activities is in the general interest of all.
