New SA Media To Gov Wike Solicits  For Support

The newly appointed Special Adviser on media to the Rivers State Governor, Mr Kelvin Ebiri, has solicited for the support and cooperation of the Government House press unit for him to succeed in his new assignment.

He made this appeal over the weekend when he was meeting with members of the unit shortly after assumption to duty.

He stated that the reason for the establishment of the press unit is for the enhancement of the governor’s image and projection of the Rivers State government  activities and so requires the collaboration of all to achieve set goal.

“Everybody is important in this unit and we must work as a team if we must succeed”. Mr. Ebiri made it clear that the essence of the meeting is to identify with each and everyone working under his department and to appeal for their support as he cannot do it all alone.

He also said another aspect of the meeting was to enable him get acquainted with the challenges encountered in the department both inter-human relationship, welfare of staff and the working equipment.

During the interactive session, the S.A. got a full doze of complaints from the unit as it appears that everyone seized the opportunity to ventilate his/her pent up grievances that had negatively affected the output of the department.

The complaints ranged from inter-personal relationship to staff welfare, casualization of some staff, staff benefits, perceived marginalization of the deputy governor’s press unit to suspension of their wardrobe allowance as well as discrimination of the office and field workers.

The staff however expressed appreciation to Mr Ebiri, their new boss through Mr. Daniel Solomon for considering it worthwhile to meet with his subordinates, something they have been longing for, for a long time.

He promised on behalf of others that they will reciprocate the Special Adviser’s gesture by giving him their full support to succeed in his new assignment.

Responding, Mr. Ebiri, who was the South-South Bureau Chief of the Guardian Newspapers promised to do all within his powers to improve the situation.

He also promised to create a new WhatsApp platform to strengthen the dissemination of information channel in the unit. Mr. Ebiri however warned against gossipers, laziness, truancy and others who engage in what he called the pull him down syndrome (Phd).

He also promised to operate an open door policy in his administration as well as carrying everyone along in the scheme of things.
