Revealed! Public Now Channels Complaints To Vigilantes
Reports reaching National Network News desk suggest that members of the public in Port Harcourt metropolis and its environs in particular are now channeling complaints against suspects to vigilante groups following alleged refusal of Police to go for arrest to show their displeasure for the maiming and killing of some Police officers and destruction of Police facilities nationwide as revealed by the Force spokesperson, DCP Frank Mba.
A man who identified himself as Udoh last Sunday told our reporter that he went to a police station in Diobu, Port Harcourt to report a matter of theft against somebody.
Mr Udoh disclosed that after the report, the Police allegedly told him they cannot go for arrest of the suspect considering the present situation the Police found themselves. Mr Udoh stated that he later reported the matter to vigilante group in the area.
A Chief Security Officer of a particular street in Diobu who pleaded anonymity told our reporter that after the EndSARS protest in Rivers State there has been an increase in compliants from members of the public.
The vigilante chief disclosed they only arrest suspects and immediately hand over to the Police since they (vigilante) are not permitted by law to operate a detention facility.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni had told our reporter last week that the Police were not on the road because they were being killed.
