Prof. Jumbo Condemns Show Of Shame At National Assembly

The recent pandemonium at the National Assembly generated by rival factions of the host communities of Nigeria has continued to generate reactions.

Prof. Jasper Jumbo, a national leader of HOSCON described the incident as a show of shame driven by inordinate ambition of greedy persons who want to grab and divert the services of HRM, King Diete Spiff and Bishop Dr. Mike Emuh.

Prof. Jumbo who doubles as the Chairman of Niger Delta Projects Consulting said the incident at the National Assembly was a display of violence which he said was unacceptable.

He condemned the action of one Benjamin Style, describing it as insulting to the personality of King Diete Spiff who was a former Governor of old Rivers State and demanded for an apology.

According to him, King Spiff was one of the original members of the Board of Trustees incorporated by Cooperate Affairs Commission for HOSCON in Niger Delta. Bishop Emuh, he also said has suffered alongside King Spiff over the years in the implementation of the flare tax, stressing that it was very wrong for Benjamin Style as a younger person to start fighting and punching Bishop Emuh.

His words: “When people start to arrogate to themselves what they are not or start to claim what belongs to everybody as their own, people will begin to ask questions.

He stressed that it was the leaders of Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSCOM) who collectively chose King Spiff and Bishop Emuh as their official representatives to interface with the federal government in the quest for the implementation of the gas flare tax.

Prof. Jumbo said the Gas Flare penalty fund does not belong to any individual but to the people of Niger Delta especially those communities where Gas has wrecked havoc on the populace.

He urged all and sundry to come together as one and leave behind personal interest and greed, and evolve acceptable programmes that will touch the lives of the people.

The elder statesman reiterated that the promotion of nepotism and divide and rule was killing the Niger Delta region and enjoined everyone to be involved and invest peace by making sure  unity becomes their watchword at all time.
