Eliozu Community: Eze-Elect Dismisses Comments Against Selection As Spurious

The Eze-elect of Eliozu Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Comr. Solomon Ogbondah has lashed out at Prince Fyneluck Woko over his uncomplimentary remarks on his preliminary installation.

Eze elect Ogbondah was reacting to a publication in one of the local tabloids credited to Prince Fyneluck Woko, alleging that his coronation was not known to him as the Crown Prince of Eliozu Community.

Describing the said comment of Prince Woko as spurious, childish, the Eze-elect said Prince Woko has no authority or knowledge to say such, as he does not attend the family meetings of Orowolozu and wouldn’t have known when the preliminary coronation took place.

Insisting on his preliminary coronation, the Eze-elect said his biological father, Elder Manyeodiwe Ogbondah was the person who presented him to the members of the Orowolozu family after all necessary consultation. According to him, it was Rtd. Rev Edmund Woko who authorized Elder Manyeodiwe Ogbondah to choose someone as he was the only surviving son of Ogbondah family, adding that Rev. Woko adopted him performed the preliminary installation confirming him as the Eze of Eliozu, and thereafter he was presented to the Eliozu Council of Chiefs and Elders where he was received.

Explaining further, he said a letter was earlier sent to the Chairman of Eliozu Council of Chiefs and Elders, Dr. Emeka Orlu, stating why Solomon Ogbondah was chosen amongst his brothers and that copies of the letter ware sent to Rtd. Rev Edmund Azundah Woko, Eze C.A. Tata the paramount Rulers of Oro-Igwe, HRM, Eze J.A Utcheay, the Paramount Ruler of Oro-Esara Kingdom and also to Rumuchinwo Family, Elikpokwuodu Community, Rukpokwu Town.

He said the issue of kingship is based on rational basis with the royal family. A situation where two or more persons are interested in the stool and all of them cannot have access to the throne at the same time, he said, it’s Elders of the family that decide where the king is to be chosen from.

His words: “When my father and the entire family chose me to go for such an errand, who am I to say no? If I say no, it may not be pleasant to God Almighty and the gods of the land. I am a very humble youngman who has handled responsibilities at different levels of leadership and by that, I think I will give my little best in ensuring that the community would be at peace and things would be done rightly.
