Police Recover Belongings Of Alleged Rape Survivor From Suspect’s House
The Aluu Divisional Police headquarters has recovered clothes, handset, keys and bag of a sixteen-year-old female defilement survivor from the house of one Mgbechi Wekwe, a staff of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education in Rumulomeni, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State who is accused of abducting and defiling the minor at Rumukunade, Emohua Local Government area of Rivers State, National Network has learned.
The recovery followed a search conducted in his house last week.
Our source revealed that the under wears of the alleged defilement survivor that was reportedly seized by the suspect was not found.
Meanwhile, the suspect was grilled by men of State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) over the weekend on his alleged involvement in the abduction and defilement of a sixteen- year-old girl, National Network can report.
The development followed the transfer of the suspect from Aluu Divisional Police headquarters in Ikwerre Local Government area to SCID Port Harcourt last Friday.
Our correspondent reports that the suspect is presently detained at SCID and may be arraigned in court soon.
It would be recalled that OSPAC in Aluu had apprehended the suspect and handed him over to Inspector General of Police (IGP), monitoring unit in Aluu who in turned handed him over to Aluu Police Division.
The mother of the victim Mrs Kindness Edwin had accused the suspect of abducting and defiling her sixteen year old daughter because she (mother) opted out of a marriage deal.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command SP Nnamdi Omoni had confirmed the incident adding that investigation is ongoing.
