Okoro-Nu-Odo Flyover Commissioning Excites Benefitting Communities
There was jubilation within and around the communities at Rumuokoro Clan including the residents and traders doing business in the area during the eventual commissioning of the Okoro-Nu-Odo flyover on Monday March 1, 2021 especially considering the attendant hardship the lockdown of the area four months ago by the governor caused them.
Speaking with newsmen, Mrs. Elizabeth C. Ikwunga, women leader, Rumuokoro Clan Council Women Meeting, Mrs. Worlu Esther and Mrs Nyeche Gloria Joyce, Women Leaders, Rumuodomaya Community Women Council Meeting said they are short of words to appreciate Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for the construction of the flyover which has improved the esthetic environment of the area and as well opened up other development of the area.
“The project is really a facelift to this communities that spaned to Elieke, Rumukpalusi, Awalama, Eligbolo and Rumuaghalu.
They confessed that the hardship experienced during the construction including the four mouths lock down of the area as a result of the nuisance caused by the criminals and some landlords who rented their frontage for illegal trading was excruciating but that all is well that ends well.
The benefitting communities promised to do all within their power to sanitize the area and as well stay orderly in accordance to the Rivers State Government’s directives.
The Rumuodomaya Women however appealed to Governor Wike to build for them a befitting community market and health centres to boost their welfare and as well help them to maintain the sanitary condition of the area.
According to them, “It would be advisable that a taskforce is set up to ensure that the place is fully utilized. They expressed happiness that vehicles and pedestrians now move freely in the area without any traffic jam or molestation.
They confessed that they have learnt their lesson and would do everything within their powers to ensure that the facilities are maintained to attract more goodies to their communities.
“We shall immediately swing into action and meet with the women, traders and youths groups in the area in order to look for a way to ensure that the area is properly maintained including making it difficult for crime and criminality of any kind to boom”.
They also used the opportunity to re-assure the Wike administration of mobilizing support for it in order to roll out more people oriented programmes and policies for the people and residents of the state.
In another development High Chief Ogundu Nyejibadu Ichenwo of Rumuagholu Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State said Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike is indeed a God’s sent leader to the state to open up all the locked down nooks and crannies of the state.
He however appealed to the governor to shift attention to the improvement of infrastructures in the schools especially in Rumuoagholu Community.
He advised Wike not to be distracted by what he called irrelevant criticism of the opposition politicians who would not see anything good in his administration.
The royal father said they would continue to pray and support the governor to achieve all his New Vision plans for the state.
