Gov Wike Appreciates AKULGANS For Their Support

…As He Commissions Mini Stadium

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has once again appreciated the people of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state and in particular the Abonnema Community for what he called their consistent support for his administration.

Represented by the Chief of Staff (COS) Government House, Port Harcourt, Chief Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke, the governor said that nothing was too big to do for the people especially for their steadfast support during the 2019 general election against the soldiers, drafted to rig him out.

“The people stood by us even at the risk of their lives and we shall continue to appreciate them by reciprocating the gesture.”

A minute silence was observed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in course of the election.

Gov Wike recalled the projects he has done in the whole Kalabari Kingdom including the Obonoma road and bridge which he noted was abandoned by the previous administrations as well as the Trans-Kalabari road under construction. He made it known that PDP is the only hope for the country and indeed Rivers State and appealed for the continued support of the people for more democratic dividends.

The governor made it clear that all the PDP candidates were tested and trusted for the assignment ahead and therefore should be voted into power in the forthcoming LG election and that of the 2023 general election.

He particularly expressed gratitude for what the council chairman who is also the chairmanship candidate for the LG election, Hon. Rowland Sekibo.

He made it known that those who showed workings in their first outing were given opportunity to consolidate on their achievements by the people and used the opportunity to congratulate Hon Sekibo for the feat achieved especially in building the mini stadium for his people.

In his remarks, the council boss thanked the authorities for giving him the opportunity to show-case his talent and in particular the second chance.

Sekibo used the opportunity to reel out some of his achievements these three years, pointing out that his administration embarked on the building of the stadium to help the youths develop their athletic talents in addition to their academics.

Highlight of the event which held at the full capacity mini-stadium was the commissioning of the mini-stadium proper by the governor.

Thereafter, the second phase of the event commenced which was the flag-off of the LG electioneering campaign, starting with the ward by ward gyration of the candidates and their supporters.

The councillorship candidates were given the mandate to campaign for votes through the party flags by the PDP council chairman, HRH Emmanuel Stephen of Ifoko Community ably supported by other stakeholders.

Another highlight was the Award of Excellence to Hon Rowland Sekibo as the best performing LG Chairman of the year 2020 in the Niger Delta by Mr. Jacob Abai, publisher, “Gbaramatu Voice” a regional newspaper outlet.

There were goodwill messages from major Stakeholders of AKULGA including the SSG, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, PDP Elders Forum’s Chairman; Chief Feddie Alabraba; Chief David Briggs, Commissioner for Culture & Tourism, Hon (Mrs) Tonye Briggs Oniyinde and members representing Akulga I & II in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Major Jack and Hon Lolo Okwenge respectively.
