Kalabari Youths Sue For Peace

…Inaugurates New Exco

calls for peace, unity and progress of the Kalabari Kingdom were some of the issues that came to the front burner at the Kalabari Youths Council Congress 2021 organized by the central planning committee of the body at Abonnema on Wednesday, April 7,2021.

At the Congress, youths from the three Kalabari Local Government Areas, which comprise Delga, Asalga and Akulga called for the unity of Kalabari Kingdom to be  strengthened, and the enthronement of equity, justice and security for positive socio-economic development.

It would be recalled that some members of the executive were expelled by the President General Amb. Ipalibo Madodoye of the Kalabari Youth Council.

Following the expulsion of the old executive nominations were made at the Congress where new officials  emerged and were inaugurated to take over the position of the old executive. Those inaugurated include Somina Harry, Dickson Senibo, Victor Briggs, Austine Kingdom Iboroma, Sandra Osaki George, Barr. Samuel Akanibo, Iso Horsfall, Boma Brownson, Okorite Erekeosima and Fenny . I. Napoleon.

The oath of office was administered on them by Barr. R. O. Abi Briggs, Notary Public.

Earlier, the chairman of the organizing committee, Norman Oyiboemi Iboroma had earlier urged the youths to unite to ensure that they get that which is due for the youths for the great kalabari kingdom, stressing that time has past when youths would indulge in acts that are inimical to their cooperate existence as kalabari and Rivers people.

Amb. Ipalibo Madodoye, the President- General of the youth body in his speech thanked the Congress for the authentication of the expulsion of the former members of the executive.

He urged the new executive to be resolute and work to bring the much needed growth and development to the Kalabari kingdom, adding that the unity and interest of kalabari should be their priority.

On behalf of the youths of kalabari , the President General passed vote of confidence on the executive governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike whom   he described as the best performing governor in Nigeria.

According to him, the governor has done well in awarding and signing the Trans- Kalabari road . “We are so happy with the governor because for more than 24 years, we have been longing for this project. So many administrations have come and gone, none were able to do something about it but governor Nyesom Wike has broken the jinx,” he said.

The youth president stressed that the governor has done well and that as youths they were not to antagonize government but will rather partner with the government and the security agencies for peace and development.
