RSHA Reiterates Commitment To Ensure Justice For Oil-Bearing Communities

In its continued efforts to find a lasting solution to the alleged infraction and neglect  as contained in a petition written by the three host communities of the Niger Delta Petroleum Resources (NDPR), against the company, Rivers State House of Assembly has organised a  meeting for all the relevant parties on the matter.

The chairman of the ad-hoc Committee set up to look into the petition, Hon Major Jack had invited chiefs, community leaders,and youths of the 3 communities of Obumeze, Oshiugbokor and Ogbele in Ahoada East LGA at the Rivers State House of Assembly complex for more information on their complaints

The lawmaker representing Akuku-toru Constituency 1 assured of the commitment of the House  to ensure that justice prevailed between the Niger Delta Petroleum Resources and its host communities of Ogbele, Obumeze and Oshuigboko.

Major Jack who briefed the press corps after the meeting described his committee as an “unbiased committee” that will stand for the truth, adding that the committee  having listened to the communities will also hear from other parties involved in the matter including the company itself so as to ascertain the veracity of the petition.

On his part the Eze Upata, Eze Felix Otuwarikpo expressed hope on the strength of the Assembly to do justice to their petition and assured of peace on the part of the communities

It would be recalled that the 3 communities had in August this year sent a petition to the House, alleging  Neglect, Mindless Oil and Gas exploitation, Marginalization Economic and Environmental Sabotage by the company.
