Dr. Ogiri Decries Terrible State Of Odual Link Road
The people of Okolmade Community in Abual/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State have cried out over the state of the only link road to Okolomade and other communities in Odual.
Dr. Henry Ogiri disclosed that he has drawn the attention of the Rivers State Government and will continue to do so until something is done, since NDDC has paid deaf ear to their cry.
Dr. Ogiri, a former NDDC director called on the Rivers State Government to come to the aid of the people by tarring the remaining section of the road, which he said would address the hardship on the people.
He decried the level of flooding in the area during rainy season, making the road inpassable whenever it rains.
He explained that accessing Okolomade and other communities in Odual is a long journey because they navigate through Bayelsa State to get to Odual, making life difficult.
Explaining further, he said in the past they wouldn’t even get to their homes during rainy season but he gave thanks to God who through NDDC tarred some sections of the road close to Okolamade.
He regretted that since he left NDDC till now nothing has been done, nothing that only tarred areas are the sections tarred while he was in office.
His words: “Governance shouldn’t be that if you don’t have an indigene of a community, in office, then the people should be neglected. This road ought to have been completed years ago. I was in office for just about two years and look at what we achieved, and from when I left office till today nothing has happened here”.
He reiterated that the greatest challenge of Odual was the terrible state of the only road that is supposed to link Okolamade, Emogokugbo, Adada, Ogboluma, Odual etc.
“All these roads are part of the strategic road map, I had a vision and still believe that we would definitely achieve that in no distant future because Odual communities should be paramount,” he said.
